Pumpkins Scream In The Dead Of Night...

Headed over to Hillary's earlier today to get our pumpkin carving on. I ♥ carving pumpkins. Okay, so I really ♥ cleaning out the guts of the pumpkin.

I am usually the person that doesn't like getting her hands dirty, literally. I have to always have clean hands, but it is something about the gooshy smooshy feeling of the inside of the pumpkin that makes me smile.

I really wanted to carve a white/ghost pumpkin, and guess what?! I found one! We then found 4 regular orange pumpkins. The store had red pumpkins, but they were really flat, so much that you couldn't carve anything on them.

Alright, so the only one that was carved free style is the Jack O' Lantern face. The others were stencils, but hey I didn't want to do just a Jack O' Lantern pattern. I am in no way an artist, so internet plus printer equals awesome pumpkin carvings.

Pumpkin carving originated in Ireland. The Irish would put candles in hallowed out turnips to keep away the spirits and ghosts on Samhain.

Of course we had to cook the pumpkin seeds! They are mucho num yummy!

Half way to a Happy Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows Eve!

I haven't carved a pumpkin in years. Now that I've got a grandchild I can see that happening again though.

I've never understood the obsession with pumpkins. Yes they are fun to carve, but the messy stuff inside...whoa.

Awesome carvings. Even with a stencil I'm not good at carving!

hmmmm...Pumpkin carving? I'd like to try that.
You've done a nice job carving those pumpkins. I just may try that sometime soon. Ahhh! Looking at those pumpkins just reminds me just how much I looooove pumpkin pie.

your pumpkins look amazing! it's one of my favorite things to do this season. the carving part - not the pulling the guts out part!

EM: Plastic is just as good. At least you have something :)

JPT: You so need to do it.

MF: Aww thanks! You should definitely try it

AZ: That's what I like about it! The messy insides. Guess being a Mortician is right up my alley huh? Haha! :P

Nicole: I use a black permanent marker, that way it bleeds through the stencil onto the pumpkin, and you just follow the lines :)

TSOOKB: You should give it a go! Pumpkin Pie /w Whipped Cream = Fantabulous!

Diane: I though I took that photo off the internet of my pumpkins.... Haha!
