Today in History

~*Disclaimer: There will be graphic pictures posted. Not for the queasy.*~

The scene was bloody and gruesome. Two people lay dead, the result of a viscious murder. One body at the door of the condo, the other by the fence. The bodies, whose throats were slit and their head nearly decapitated, were found at 12:05 a.m. on June 13, 1994.

~*Nicole Simpson at the foot of the stairs & Ron Goldman at the fence to the condo*~

Evidence gathered at the scene of the crime pointed to who we know as, O.J. Simpson. We all know about this case, well most of us do any way. O.J. tried on a leather glove that was saturated in blood, to which it did not fit. I am not sure if it went through the jurors mind that leather shrinks when it becomes wet, and stiffens when covered with blood. Who knows if it did or not, for the famous quote "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" is heard every where every time someone gets away with something.

Money talks and bullshit walks, and in this case both did happen. Fifteen years ago, Mr. O.J. Simpson was acquitted on murder charges that he was facing. In my opinion I do think that O.J. did this, but when you have money and naive "peers" people get away with the most ridiculous stuff. I am glad that the Goldman's filed a civil suite against O.J.. What he did to the families and the kids is just devistating.

Well Mr. O.J. you now sit in jail where you belong, soon to be in prison for the rest of your life, because two years ago today you were found guilty on all counts of armed robbery. Appeals have been denied for you, and with your history, I am not sure if you will ever get out. Karma is a bitch dear sir, and you are getting yours.

At the risk of dating myself.. I very vividly remember all of us at work sitting around the TV in our conference room watching as the verdict in the murder trial was announced. Like 90% of the rest of the country we were shocked and upset that he got away with double murder.

But as you said, he is getting what he had coming now.. and knowing the way prisoners treat celebrities I doubt he'll have an easy life.

i love karma. the universe sets things right. this is the first time i've seen the pics of nicole and ron. how awful. if people had understood dna analysis better he never would have gotten off. now we all understand dna but that was the first time most of us heard of it. i remember watching the bronco driving through the streets. no one connected with that case came out of it in very good shape.

I remember the day that the verdict came for the double murder. I was sitting in English Class in highschool and over the P.A. system came the verdict. I was discusted for two reasons (remember I love my neighboring country U.S.A)

1. Umm, we're in class in high school...that shit can wait.

2. We live in Canada, was it really necessary to broadcast it during classes?

Again, its not like I don't love the USA, its just we didn't get a Canadian verdict of the P.A. system, why start with American?

I too remember this but never saw these pics. Wonder if the jury ever saw them...maybe then he would have then gotten what he deserved eh?

it was strange to see it take so long for karma to come around. i hate the fact that i, too, can remember it as vividly as where i was when the challenger disaster happened (6th grade homeroom), princess diana's death (at a nightclub with friends), and 9/11 ('we're under attack, leave the building immediately' and a slow motion run down the street to our apartment). with this one, i was in the dentists chair, a room full of women turning everything off to hear the verdict, and tears and cursing when it was announced. it sickened me to see someone with a long history of domestic violence to be not only acquitted, but treated as a hero. just like watching chris brown still getting media attention and acting roles after beating the shit out of rihanna or alec baldwin calling his daughter a 'little pig' or mel gibson's rants - there is a lack of importance placed on crimes against women and it terrifies me.

Isn't it awful that you warn that there will be gruesome pics and I immediately scroll to look at them! And yes, I do slow down at accident scenes too...
However, your description of the emotions and the drama 15 years ago was so captivating, I hung on your every word. AND I think the prosecutor needed you on their team: of course leather shrinks when it's wet...why didn't anyone else think of that?
You're fucken brilliant!

Sometimes justice comes a little late. This guy is exactly where he belongs, hopefully to never see freedom again. The original trial was a farce and the jury pool had to be the most stupid people on the planet to let him off. Sheesh, 15 years later and this can still get me worked up.

It made me so ill when they turned the trial into a media circus and intimated 'race' to sway the jury that they would be bigots if they didn't acquit this stone-cold killer -- even throwing out the Rodney King thing...sometimes the wheels of justice are slow but eventually they do turn to the right...thanks for seeking out my blog; I like yours too...
