“I don't have a girlfriend, I just know a girl who would get really mad if she heard me say that.”

Okay so this was brought to my attention the other day. I know it probably isn't going to be favored by the guys, but then again, they may be the biggest voice on this. It is just something that different views would be appreciated.

<-------- I know this went waaaaaaaaaaay over there in left field.Well it is left when you are facing it.

Okay any way I digress, my question is, what in the hell defines single?

I mean I know I could look up in the dictionary, the definition, but what is a real person’s reading, not just a book?

We all know what marriage, divorced and widowed means, even without a dictionary, but does “in a relationship” or even "engaged" mean that you are still single? If you are living with that person, you tell that person you love them, are you still single?

So I say unto you my dear followers/readers that maybe one day will be a follower of thy blog, what is your perspective?

~*Title was brought to you by one of the greatest comedians, Mitch Hedberg.*~

Sadly, your post title describes my life to a "T". I can totally relate. :-(

You're single when you can sleep on the other side of the bed without anyone complaining, or can leave the toilet seat up, or down if you so choose. Or can have fried egg sandwiches for tea every day and not care about it.

You know, I though about it. And ... I think "single" these days is more a state of mind than an actual status.

Awesome responses and feedback! Being married and claiming your single is just wrong, but I feel so is being in a relationship and claiming that you are single. You live with the person, you share the bills, you sleep in the same bed, hmmm yeah definitely not single. I am starting to hear this more and more that "I am not married therefore I am single even though I do all of the above" so that is why I brought this up. Thank you all for your participation!

Hi, Love your blog and your pic ID and your name! Glad I stopped by:)

I think the lines are blurring on this subject. Actually, I kind of blogged about it, oh about a month ago. It was more in the comments section, than the actual post. If you're interested here's the link:

Great subject! I think more and more people are wondering about relationships and what they mean.

I don't think so. Once you've slipped someone the tongue, and they've slipped theirs back. You are no longer single until you state otherwise...I'm just sayin'...

I think marriage should be like this...you go to Costco...you pay $50 for your card...you get to sign up one person for a free card...and that is your partner! for better or worse or whatever happens in between! Lots easier than all the hallabaloo than we have now...satify everyone, I'm thiinking...p.s. you could hav mulitple card holders if THEY want to pay the extra $25...lol

I'm also a huge Mitch Hedberg fan.

I guess we're not gonna have problems.

hmmm, all these complexities. my perspective? one asks the other, 'will you be my boy/girl-friend?' + the other says 'yes' = relationship. ding! too many assumptions by both men and women and few just ask straight up. interesting experiment if folks would just be upfront :)

EcoGrrl: Thank you for stopping by, reading and commenting! You wouldn't think that such a simple thing would be so damn complicated.
